"✨🕺✨ Ten million dollars for the Gat Machine, baby~. ✨🕺✨"
Basic Info
A driven, yet rather carefree goofball whose job as a proprietor of a casino is his passion in life. He's all about showmanship, flashy displays, and being the life of the party. He's addicted to being social, never wanting to be alone.
- Despite enjoying gambling, he's actually slightly above average at best—and below average at worst—because he enjoys the thrill of chance more than skill.
- He loves being an oaf. Incomptetence is fun.
- He's super animated and exciteable when interacting with others, but tends to be lazy and lethargic when alone. I joke that he "hibernates" when people aren't around, to conserve his energy.
- He has a lot of vices, but he isn't addicted to any of them. He's addicted to being social, instead, and that's how he does them. He's a social drinker, a social smoker, and a social eater, and he does them all too much, always preferring to mirror others to really feel that connection to them.
- He hopes to one day grow his casino into the best in the country—if not the world.
- He brags about being rich—and he is—but most of his richness in net worth, not liquid assets. He pays himself a healthy salary, but nothing outlandish, and puts most of his money back into his casino.
Trivia
- His name is based off of locations I visited during my 2022 vacation: Gatlinburg, TN & Clingmans Dome, NC. Retroactively, I made his middle name 'Laurel,' after the Laurel Falls, which we also visited.
- He lives a pretty modest lifestyle in an upper-middle class apartment, with a singular nice car. He rarely goes on vacations, and doesn't tend to frequent high end restaurants unless it's to be shared with someone else (which is, admitedly, quite often). He will overspend for the sake of a joke, or for his casino, but otherwise, he lives pretty middle class.
- He has an extra apartment on the top floor of his casino which he uses when he doesn't feel like going home.
- Vampire: Within is a golden coffin, all nice and padded. While he doesn't show it off to any old person given it's in his living quarters, it's purposefully very eye-catching, as to play up the fact that it is just a quirky thing, and not actual evidence he's some scary vampire. What kind of vampire would sleep in a flashy, golden coffin, huh? He normally sleeps in his apartment. The coffin is a backup if he ever requires extra security.
- He drives a red Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan (electric car).
- I keep making him fatter. :(
- 156 lbs (initial design, 2022)
- 186 lbs (May, 2023)
- 203 lbs (October 2023)
- 221 lbs (December, 2023)
- 222 lbs (May, 2024)
- 282 lbs (August 2024). NO MORE.
- Vampire: Potentially, the biggest thing keeping him grounded to humanity in this world (his casino and his drive to make it number one) might also lead to his loss in humanity, in order to protect it.

Philosophy
"Hey, don't hate on stupid people. Some of the smartest people I know are stupid."
Stupidity is Smart
Being the jester is the best way to disarm people. When people underestimate you, it's far easier to then blindside them and come out on top.
The Customer is Always Right—except when it's funnier if they're wrong~. 😉
He's all about hospitality and compromise, man.
History

Earth:
Vampire (Berlin)
Born in Merano, Italy to an Italian mother and Austrian father, Gatlin hoped to one day be a magician. He'd constantly show off card tricks to everyone he met, confident in his future dreams.
This chipper, outgoing attitude changed when his family moved to Germany when he was 11. The once talkative boy became quiet when his thick Italian accent was constantly pointed out and mocked by classmates.
He stopped performing card tricks, instead, going to university for Marketing, in hopes of picking up some sort of business job. To make ends meet, the undergrad waited tables in an Italian restaurant, and one day caught the interest of a fellow Italian (Marius), who, after learning he liked cards, invited him to his weekly Poker Club. In time, the club opened him back up, and he started to embrace his "silly" accent, becoming the quirky, loud, fun man he is today. With newfound confidence and Marius' support, he was spurred to follow a new dream of owning a glitzy casino, where, instead of being the entertainment, he could host others, living his magician dreams vicariously through them.
He started small, buying and renovating an old casino, which he renamed the "Berlino." After its success, he took out a larger loan to build his dream resort casino: Casa del Sino.
At the age of 36, he's sweeping the sidewalk around the casino and happens to hear sounds of a scuffle going down in a dark corner around the casino. With his trusty broom, he heads over there to shoo them off, only to be thrown against a wall and drained of his blood. Vampirism follows, of course.
From then on, he struggles immensely with his humanity, desperately trying to interact with humans and act human, in order to perceive himself as human, but it becomes harder and harder as time goes on, incapable of living his "human" life to the fullest, now that the daytime—and especially the sun—hinder him.
...It doesn't help that he's accidentally killed two people, and forced himself to Sire the latter, after he accidentally drank him dry.
America
Overall the same, but his family moves to Tennessee instead, and his first casino is named the "Tennessino" instead of the "Berlino."
Monochrome Mafia Canon (Morris Timeline)
Non-Earth Timeline in Morris' world. It's a dismal monochrome world where everyone suffers. Gatlin started out as a street thug with big dreams, and he catches a break when he successfully kidnaps the daughter of wealthy barons...and she actually prefers it, hating her rich life. She can tell how incompetent he is, and decides to help him randsome her own parents, and the loser Gatlin ends up looking up to his captive, her becoming basically a mentor to him. Yes, it's weird. They are weird.
He eventually becomes a successful crimeboss, running a casino publicly, while committing crimes privately, becoming quite rich off of both. He starts taking an interest in Tieflings, most notably for their tails, and collects Tieflings who have tails reminiscent of the four card suits. Morris is one of these Tieflings, though their initial meeting was very hostile.
Unknowing of Gatlin's power, Morris kidnaps his daughter, Roulette, and hopes to hold her for randsome in a Robinhood-esque manner of stealing from the rich to give to the poor. This backfires heavily, as Gatlin and his thugs retaliate with violence, no negotiations, Morris' eye and horn injured in the process. Gatlin initially wants to kill him, but noticing his spade-like tail, and with Morris' scheme reminding him of his own past, he instead decides to "hire" him, though while he's paid, Morris doesn't have much of a choice: it's that or be killed, as initially planned.
Morris works diligently for now, but he's waiting for his opportunity to get his revenge. Meanwhlie, Gatlin takes an interest in him, due to thieir similar upbringings, treating him almost like a son, but one who gets tough love instead of actual affection. He hopes to train him into something great.
Casa del Sino
Casa del Sino is a six storey resort casino: the first five floors are for gambling and amenities, while the sixth is for staff, conference rooms, and an extra apartment. Attached to the casino is a 15 storey hotel, which includes a spa on the 9th floor, and some extra dining on the ground floor.
