"I'll do whatever you want, just please kill me!!!"
Basic Info
Absit's backstory varies between stories, but in every canon, he's an unlucky, timid crybaby single father whose wife died in childbirth. He grew up very close to his father, but was heavily bullied by his other siblings, making him the closed off, apologetic man he is today: a man who never wants to waste even a second of someone else's time to help him, even if it's their job to do so. He's extremely passive and has a hard time making decisions, as he worries about the consequences for either choice he makes.
He dabbles in the occult for a host of reasons: to try to have better control over his perceived 'bad luck,' to not live in ignorance of these superstitions only for them to sneak up on and kill him, and to potentially revive his dead wife. In all his current 'worlds,' supernatural stuff at least minorly exists, so thus far, he's two-for-two in not being a total nutjob. Good for him.
His wife is dead.
- The reclusive man wears the attention-grabbing attire he does to honor his wife's wishes, who, for a time, helped him break out of his shell.
- He does enjoy the clothing he wears (it fits his taste to a T), but if it weren't for his wife, he'd wear dull, boring sweaters and button-downs as to not call attention to himself.
- His clothing is often a means to express himself. He'll have certain symbolism hidden away (or not-so-hidden) on outfits to show his mood, hopes, theming, etc.
- He's very superstitious and paranoid. He looks for symbolism in everything, be it colors, numbers, flowers, or anything else.
- He's a very doting father who's always there for his son (Felix), yet is also very co-dependent on him for his own emotional support.
- He's a vegetarian because he could never eat another living creature's flesh. He's a little uncomfortable whenever he has to be near people eating meat.
- He'd like to go full vegan, but he likes parfaits and milk too much. He does cut down on cheese.
- His son is the one who finally got him to join a local occult club (OkkultelyFans) years after his wife died.
Trivia
- "Absit Oman" is a pun of "Absit Omen," which is a Latin phrase said in hopes the bad thing you mentioned doens't come true. (Ex: "If my wife were to die—ABSIT OMEN—that'd be really sad.")
- "Lapsus" means "a lapse or error," aka, he was an accident. Yes, they made his middle name proof of that. Very nice.
- He's also an 'error' because he's the only kind, caring person in his family, despite all the abuse. An error, but also a miracle.
- He keeps a journal and writes entries to his deceased wife each day. It's very important to him.
- He sometimes sleeps (NON-SEXUALLY) with his kid, when he's having a bad night (he doesn't ask, but his kid knows he wants to be with someone, so he insists).
- To make him German (I NEEDED MORE GERMANS IN THIS BERLIN-SET GAME), I changed his last name to "Mann" for his human form, but "Oman" is so good for his name pun and also for connecting him to Idunn without changing her name and ruining her pun, so I am at a loss. Either way, he's either a Mann or Oman.
- He's an elf in his D&D interpretation (which I am dubbing Oman's Land for now). I might change him to Half-Elf or Human later. We'll see.
- While he was always a crybaby loser daddy's boy, he was originally way more evil, given his first drawing ever with him monologuing to Idunn. That exact interaction is no longer canon, but I feel he might've done the same thing, just with more tears and shaking and hiccups instead of just looking cocky. He'd be putting on a show.
- He was originally supposed to be built as a Warlock for D&D but I have never liked a single Warlock build in my life. I fear for him.

Philosophy
"...Sorry for apologizing."
I DON'T EXIST. LALALALA, IGNORE ME.
Keep to yourself. Don't bother others. If you do that, nobody can hate you. And if nobody hates you, nobody should hurt you.
...So why do people keep hurting me anyway?
(His siblings messed him up. His wife helped slowly break him out of his shell, but then she died a day before his birthday, leaving him with a newborn baby to take care of, which broke him again. Whoops. At least he's not bullied by his family anymore—though he's too traumatized to notice they're not bullying him (they're more apathetic than anything else now, just making occasional rude quips).)
History
Earth/Main Canon (not set in stone)
Absit was born a bastard child to a married man, making him the black sheep of the family from his conception. His mother never thought of him as a son, electing to ignore his existence whenever possible, while his older sister heavily bullied him (for a host of reasons), and his later younger brother was apathetic to it all, but extremely blunt, leading to his own accidental bullying. As such, Absit clung to his father, the one person in the family who took the time to care for him, even if it was partially out of guilt. Regrettably, by the time he was 13, his father started getting frail [I don't have a condition in mind right now], leading to him spending frequent days in the hospital. Despite the stress the entire family should have been suffering from, the bullying didn't let up, leading him further and further into reclusion.
Absit originally went to university to learn medicine, solely for the far-fetched dream that he could fix his father, but after he passes away during his Sophomore year, he decides, all connections to the world cut, to end his own life. He treks up to a nearby cliff, only to be startled right before the act by a woman who frequented the location every Friday to take in the view. He almost falls to his death just from losing his balance when she calls to him, but she catches him and profusely apologizes, asking him to sit down with her for a bit, a safe distance away. They talk, and seeing how lonely and socially awkward he is—along with the guilt of almost killing him—she decides to ask if they can hang out again. Absit, never one to refuse someone, agrees, despite his extreme reservations. Thanks to her, he has another connection to the world once more, even if it was forced.
She becomes his first friend, and convinces him, with no passion for medicine, to go into fashion design instead, which he does, despite his fear of his family's further rejection of him. By their Junior year, through her insistence, the two start dating when he's 21. Marriage is still out of the question for the very slow-paced man.
Through her, he gains a bit more confidence, still a complete pushover, but a little more talkative with less total freakouts at the smallest of errors. He's not invited to his sister's wedding (17 years old), but is surprised when he's invited to his brother's (23 years old). Him and his brother minorly reconnect and come to terms with each other, though his sister is still dismissive and standoffish, blaming Absit for 'being selfish' for still letting stuff from their childhood get to him, telling him to 'grow up.' He apologizes and says he doesn't know how to.
He marries his own partner when he's 25, and after years of coaxing, he's finally convinced to have a child with her, only for the woman who opened up his world to have her life taken in childbirth, a day before his 29th birthday. He is absolutely devastated, yet has to perservere, for the sake of this new child that had now been thrown into his life.
From then on, he lives for her sake, doing whatever he can to live up to what she wanted him to be, so she could still exist in this world in some form. He's a great father, all things considered, aside from his frequent anxiety attacks and sobbing breakdowns. His son, while rather aloof himself, supports him in turn, and is the replacement motivator in his life when Absit is too miserable to figure out what the love of his life would want him to do in any given situation.
Does Absit even need another category?
