Environmentalism Above All

Keeping the planet sustainable should be top priority. More than the economy, more than social justice, more than infrastructure (unless said infrastructure helps prevent waste). We should fix what we can today, but if it harms the future, we need to discard it (goodbye fossil fuels, cheap machines that pollute the Earth, and other detriments).

Boating

He has a little boat he likes taking out to lakes and the sea. He enjoys the peace and quiet he gets out there, away from annoying people. It calms him. Boats are also kind of his "special interest" (autism). He likes talking about them and visiting old historic ones.

Reading

He prefers Non-Fiction. He hates wars—and actually somewhat fears them—but he finds stories about past conflicts interesting, especially when they're about naval conflicts.

Poker

He enjoys Poker, and he's decent at it, but not the best. He's pretty good at looking angry at any hand he gets, so overall, his Poker Face is pretty good, but he's not the best at reading others', and occasionally, his eye twitches when he has an especially good or bad hand.

Environmental Activism

If there's a pro-Green event within a hundred mile radius of his house, he will be there. If it's local, he will bike there, to boot, instead of driving, unless he has to transport a bunch of supplies (signs, tents, etc.).

Bkking

He doesn't actually like biking much, but he'd feel extreme guilt if he drove to local places when he had the ability to bike/walk there instead. He refuses to be a hypocrite, which is a huge reason why he hates planes and would prefer never travelling on one: so wasteful. He's probably refused to take some nice vacations, solely due to the "waste" involved with the travel.

Main (Earth)

From an early age, Rolf cared about the environment, and hated how politicians tended to put the economy above keeping the planet sustainable. Thinking about all the waste made him super depressed, so he decided he'd try to make a difference by becoming a politician and campaigning to strengthen environmental policies.

He joined the Green Party (Die Grünen), initially just as a member, but with plans to later run for office. His people tended to like him, because he treated them (usually) with respect, but he was quite rude to anyone he deemed wasteful, which wasn't going to get voters on his side.

Despite this, he did run for office in his early 30s, only to have lies be spread about him, harming his chances further. These flared his temper, which made him look even worse, and it's then that Marius Acerbi, a Defamation Lawyer looking for a big name case, paid him a visit.

Rolf initially turned Marius away, insulting him at every turn, but the thick-skinned lawyer wasn't phased by any of it, going out of his way to help quash libel even without being paid. In time, Rolf relented, and let Marius not just help him with his current predicament, but took him on as his personal lawyer,but Marius could tell this wasn't just about defamation anymore: Rolf was lonely and wanted a friend, even if that meant having to "hire" someone good at putting up with him. Marius was happy to accept, feeling something "special" about Rolf: mainly that he was an utter disaster, and thus the perfect "project" for him to fix up for his own ego.

Marius introduced Rolf to the world of Poker, soon forming his Poker club, "Bluff Waffe," to help Rolf learn to better socialize with others. A young woman named Liv quickly joined when she saw a flier for it, and Marius soon recruited Gatlin as well, as a second unknowin "project" for him to fix up. About five years later, Gatlin invited his new friend and employee, Nina in as well.

While Rolf never became "friendly," some of his rougher edges were sanded out, Marius becoming his personal "translator" when it came to his overly blunt remarks. Rolf would often invite him to various social events and ask him to stick close, not feeling truly comfortable interacting without him. Rather quickly, Marius realized that Rolf had grown to like him more than just a friend, and while not nearly as lovestruck, he eventually offered to move in with him, for Rolf's sake. He had come to realize Rolf kind of needed him to function in any sociable manner, and while he didn'tt have any dependence on Rolf in turn, he liked the man well enough to spend his life with him.

They spent quite a few years as this odd housemate couple, and rumors certainly spread that they were dating, which Marius would either wave off or joke about how it was a little suspicious, hoping to slowly edge his way into making Rolf admit he had a crush on him. Of course, it never worked, as the man was a brick wall, so in time, Marius instead "confessed," despite having no romantic feelings. Rolf scoffs and says he's ridiculous, yet accepts, “for [his] sake,” the eternal tsundere.

They marry and not much changes, aside from a bit more actual romance in their life. Rolf continues to be a less controversial politician, while Marius continues with his famous hotshot lawyer gig, taking on all sorts of interviews and enjoying the limelight, then relaxing each night with a much more subdued quiet life with his husband, outside of poker nights.
