Basic Info

Felix is a good kid, given the hand he's been dealt in life, son to a constantly grieving single father. He tries to help his dad as best as he can, often being more of a father figure to him than the other way around, but overall, they both help each other out.

  • He's not completely anti-social, but he tends to be pretty awkward and bad at conversations with strangers, simply not knowing what to say. He's trying to get better at it, to be a good influence on his reclusive dad.
  • He's likes goth culture, but doesn't delve into it too heavily, still worried about fitting in. He wore some eyeliner as an early teen, but dropped that as an adult.
    • As an adult, he still likes it, but is simply too shy to try to wear anything too gothy; he worries he wouldn't be able to pull it off, and people wouldn't take him seriously, and then he'd fail to kepe a job, and OH NO! WE CAN'T HAVE THAT!
  • He works at Goth Topic, at least as a teen.
  • He dislikes superstitions, mainly because his dad panicks over them, and he doesn't like seeing his dad stressed. Felix doesn't believe in them, himself.

Trivia

  • "Felix" means "happy," "lucky," etc.. His mom picked the name, for Absit's sake, to combat his own name (especially his middle name, "Lapsus," "mistake"/"lapse.")
  • His mom died in childbirth having him, one day before his dad's birthday.
    • Due to this, Absit has a tough time "celebrating" Felix's birthday, but he knows Felix did nothing wrong, so he tries to put on a smile for him. He often cries himself to sleep after Felix goes to bed. When Felix is older, he notices this one time, and comforts him, and continues to try to help him out on his birthday the following years.
  • In Absit's eyes, Felix is the only living piece of Beatriz he has left, and as such, he treats him with reverence, tending to do whatever he wants him to.
    • Thankfully, Felix is selfless enough to not abuse this, and if anything, is stressed out about it, having to tiptoe around words to make it not sound like he's asking for something. More often than not, he just asks Absit to hang out with him, or have a picnic outside, for the sake of his own physical and mental health.
    • He definitely finds it odd that he basically has his dad on a leash and wishes he'd just be normal.
  • He spent a lot of time living with Idunn growing up, given her dad, Dagda, often dropped her off at Absit's house, for him to take care of. She feels like more of a crazy, annoying older sister to him than a cousin due to this.
    • After Felix moves out (18), Idunn takes over his room.

Philosophy

"Can you just... not?"

Stay out of others' Business

At the end of the day, people should just let others live their lives. Not everything someone does needs to be picked apart and judged. Despite this philosophy, he does tend to conform to society's current trends, because he doesn't want to put up with judgement. It's easier to just conform and not have to deal with other people.

Hobbies

Bike Riding

It's good exercize, and a nice, green way to travel. He often invites his dad to join him on bike rides in nature reserves, where there are less people and the scenery is nice. Sometimes they have picnics together.

Scrapbooking

He never got to know his mom, so he's going to make sure he chronicles his memories with people he does have. Thankfully, Absit saved basically everything Beatriz ever owned, so Felix at least minorly knows her from that.

Drawing

Given he was relatively anti-social like Absit as a kid, he picked up drawing early on, and still enjoys it today. He's not a pro, but he's decent. He mostly draws artsy symbolic stuff, but sometimes draws people. He's not a furry himself, but he's thought about trying his hand at that, since furries apparently pay good money for commissions...

Picking out Clothes for his Dad

He might be too scared to wear flashy stuff publicly, but he knows his dad does it for Beatriz's sake. In Absit's eyes, Felix is practically Beatriz's channeler (given he was born from her), so he's quick to wear anything Felix picks out for him. To not would be to dishonor his wife's memory.

Reading

A casual, relaxing hobby. He'll read both fiction and self-improvement books, to try to better navigate the confusing world he lives in.

History

Main (Earth)

Birth/Baby

Beatriz wants to have a kid with Absit, in part to "prove he's not a mistake," because without Absit, their child could never exist. She decides they'll call him "Felix," to combat Absit's bad luck and own bad name, but regrettably, Felix was not a lucky omen as planned, as Beatriz dies in childbirth.

Absit is devastated, the screams of his newborn child further traumatizing him, now associating the cries of babies with the moment his life was devastated.

For the first day, he can't even look at the child. He puts him in his crib, and retreats to the farthest away room in the house—the kitchen—to be as far away from him as possible. He sits in the corner of the kitchen, hugging his legs, simply staring into space, incapable of processing what just happened. Sometimes, Felix cries, but he can't take it, simply covering his ears and shaking his head.

Before bed, he checks on Felix, finally able to understand he can't neglect him. He feeds and changes him, feeling like an utterly disgusting person for neglecting a newborn baby. His usual bad thoughts about how he's the worst and unworthy of life spring up, and he'd like to end it all, but he knows he can't, because Felix is here, and he's the only part of Beatriz he has left. Putting him up for adoption isn't an option; he can't throw away Beatriz's final gift to him.

The next few days pass by, and he puts most of his attention on Felix, perhaps to try to repent for the first day, and also because he is the new Beatriz, after all. How can he not dedicate his life to her? But the one thing he doesn't do is leave the house. The curtains are drawn, and the lights never turn on, except during late night, when he needs them to see. He talks to Felix constantly, telling him how he hopes he's more like Beatriz than him. He's happy she has his hair, but apologizes for him having his nose.

If he could, Absit would like to stay cooped up in the house forever, but a few weeks in, with food low, he's forced to venture outside. The sun hitting him for the first time in weeks, he realizes it's unhealthy for Felix to not get some sun. So as much as he doesn't want to venture outside for an extended period, he forces himself to, albeit, covering himself up far more than he should for May weather. He doesn't want to be percieved, and he feels cold anyway.

Child

As Felix learns to speak, Absit starts telling him about his mother and how wonderful she is, almost never mentioning himself except when in tandem with her. At some point, Felix asks why his mom is a picture person when Absit's a person-person, and Absit tell him that she's gone to Heaven, sacrificing herself to have him—and then goes on to clarify it's not his fault, not that the young kid took it that way. He says she loved him so much that she had to go to make sure he lived, because she's that good of a mom. Absit tells Felix that he'll one day meet her in Heaven, intentionally leaving out whether Absit himself will meet her there too. He doesn't think he's worthy.

A few years later, Felix understands death and what Absit meant by all that. He's sad, but given how often Absit talks about her and shows him her photos and belongings, he still feels some connection to her, despite never meeting her.

It's also at this point he starts realizing not all parents spoil their kids like his dad does. Absit's pretty subservient to the whims of his child, not wanting to disappoint the remaining part of Beatriz left in this world, but now that Felix knows that's not a normal thing, it starts to weird him out, even if he's liked how easy it's made his life. He's even more against it once other kids start saying how he's treated like a baby. He starts distancing himself from his dad, initially out of embarrassment, but as he grows older, it becomes out of concern too. It's simply not healthy for his dad to practically treat himself as a servant to his son.

Teen

By the time he's 16 or so, he's the one taking care of his dad more than anything else, fully understanding how his dad mopes and cries and generally dislikes himself isn't normal or healthy. He reminds him to eat, he asks him to go outside with him, and he simply makes sure to tell him "good morning," "good night," and the like. Trying to make his dad functional is basically a part-time job to him, but it slowly starts to work. Absit doesn't get over his depression, but at Felix's request, he joins OkkultelyFans, an occult-centered group that meets every week. He even makes a friend, Nina Kneller, who becomes a secondary source to try to get Absit to break out of his shell more.

When he's 18, Felix moves out and goes to college, but he does keep in touch with Absit, calling him every day, and often visiting on the weekends.

Fantasy

...He gets accidentally sacrificed by his own father to make a Philosopher Stone, which Idunn then steals and uses for magic.

...Yeah.

Idunn was called down to the dining hall, along with the rest of Absit's family outside of Felix, but Idunn said she didn't want to go and Felix should go in her place, so he went and... surprise! DEAD. Absit didn't know until it was too late.

Absit Oman (Dad and Part-Time Job)

Felix

Felix loves his dad, and understands that Absit is a very kind and thoughtful person, but Felix is uncomfortable with how Absit bends over backwards to try to please him every moment of his life. He just wants to be a normal person, darn it, not some sacred being.

By the time he's a teen, he's helping take care of Absit more than Absit takes care of him. He's trying so hard to make him a functioning adult, but his trauma and depression is so bad...

Why can't he just be normal?

Basically, his dad tires him out to no end, but Felix knows he means well.

Feelings
Feelings

Absit

Absit cherishes Felix, but for all the wrong reasons. Felix's actual personality doesn't factor into his love at all; all that matters is that he's the last remaining piece of Beatriz left alive, and therefore, he must be loved and doted on to the fullest extent of his power.

It's hard for him to see past all this obsession and hold an honest opinion on his son, which is sad. He can probably see a bit more of Felix for himself once Felix is a teen and starts helping him become a more functioning adult, but even then, the comparisons to Beatriz, who did the same, are endless.

He is proud of his son. ...Even if he still credits Beatriz partially for it, for "making such a good son."

Iðunn O'Mann (Childish Cousin)

Felix

Even as a kid, he wasn't a big fan of her, because she'd steal his stuff and take attention away from him.

As a teen/adult, he puts up with her more, but still doesn't like her. She's just another mentally ill family in his life that he has to help take care of...

Feelings
Feelings

Idunn

She's pretty neutral on him, leaning towards like, since he doesn't scold her too often. She's aware they're family, so he gets a little more of a pass than she'd give a random stranger.
