Basic Info

Arcelia's the most boring of my characters personality-wise, but makes for a decent straight man to bounce off my more ridiculous characters. She is quite emotionless and blunt with people, which make some consider her standoffish. She is very critical of her comrades, but this is done in hopes that they can improve and become better people, not to make them feel bad. She's basically the wise sage of the group. Not much phases her, but Verity has been able to get on her nerves more than anyone else, even if she still tries her best to treat the annoyance with respect most of the time.

  • Despite her bluntness and lack of emotions, she's a very caring person, who often goes out of her way to support others.

Trivia

  • Arcelia was originally just a random design during #NotReallyInkingInInktober (as is Liv).

Philosophy

Cold Logic

Arcelia is all about cold logic, thus while she would prefer not having any casualties, she knows that sometimes, sacrifices are needed. If one life can be sacrificed for many and she sees no other alternatives, she is not opposed to making that sacrifice. She wishes most were more logical, but she does accept that emotions have their place. What is life without emotions? It is bland and dull. She may not be very emotional, but she treasures the small amount of emotions she does have and probably wishes she felt more.

History

Fantasy

It's not set in stone, but she comes from a world where gods fight for influence through bestowing their magic to humans—at a cost. They make contracts, with the price paid being the human's beliefs and personality. The more magic they use of that god, the more their beliefs move towards the god's. Arcelia's so cold and blunt due to the god she made a deal with.

Arcelia was always relatively unemotional, which is why she felt making a contract was worth the risk, and indeed, compared to another human, she has changed less, but she's certainly changed, it even harder to actually feel anything emotionally.

Zane Lune (Ally)

Zane and Arcelia are both intelligent pragmatists, and the two get along quite well.

Arcelia

Arcelia doesn't condone Zane's more unscrupulous actions, but tends to accept that he's doing it for the greater good. She does lightly scold him for some of his more egregious acts, but does no more than that. She also continually tells him he needs to eat more, and these arguments are the only ones where Zane's responses are ridiculous and childish, insisting that his body doesn't matter so long as it's still capable of walking and breathing.

Feelings
Feelings

Zane

Arcelia one of the only people Zane truly respects and enjoys the company of, because her intellect is even higher than his own. They disagree on some things, but their debates are calm and respectable. He cares for her well-being, though claims that it's fully out of greed, as she's 'of more worth' to him alive than she would be dead.

Victoria Ismine (Help and Protect)

Arcelia

Arcelia thinks Victoria is a woman with a lot of potential, and just needs guidance, which she'll gladly give her. She can't help her bluntness sometimes, but she tries to be a little softer with her.

Feelings
Feelings

Victoria

Arcelia is somewhat of a mother or older sister in Victoria's eyes, given how calm and supportive she is. Victoria likes going to her for advice, and while sometimes Arcelia has some harsh truths for her, overall, Victoria accepts the advice doesn't take offense. She also whines about her cousin, Zane, a lot, but both her and Arcelia are in agreement that he has potential to be a good guy.

Victoria is a little sad that Zane likes Arcelia so much more than her, despite their family ties. She doesn't hold it against Arcelia, but does wish she could be more like her so she could earn his respect too. Maybe if he respected her more, she could change him.

Verity Istina (Annoyance)

Arcelia

Verity is a constant annoyance to Arcelia, since she refuses to ever cooperate with anyone. She is the one person Arcelia believes is truly unredeemable, as nothing seems to get through to her. She's a loose canon who enjoys causing chaos and nothing more.

Arcelia does still put up with her when necessary, nevertheless, in order to try her best to stop her from being too detrimental to the team's mission.

Feelings
Feelings

Verity

Verity 'likes' Arcelia, but only because she's fun to bug; Arcelia tries her best not to react to it—especially when other allies are around—but Verity knows she's getting under her skin. Plus, it's funny to make the voice of reason of the group look ridiculous by branding her with a mustache, unibrow, or lighting her up like a Christmas tree.

Vivienne Lune (Potential Daughter?)

She could be her mom, but I'm not set on it. Regardless, I have sketched images where she's her mom, when I needed a mom involved with Zane's antics. The problem is that I really like single-father Zane... Maybe Arcelia is away a lot.

Arcelia

Arcelia is protective of Vivienne, and criticizes Zane for how he treats her, often forcing him to loosen his grip on Vivienne. But I like Zane having a lot of control, so perhaps she's often busy travelling for work.

Vivienne

I haven't thought much about their relationship, but Vivienne surely is more comfortable with Arcelia than Zane, as, while she's blunt, she has more heart than Zane ever will, and is much more caring.
