Basic Info

A flamboyant scientist with little morality or care for others. He's very confident, but a bit reckless, sometimes leading to his machines blowing up or someone getting hurt. He's normally quite cheerful, but is riled up whenever someone beats him at anything or calls him out on one of his failures. He does not care for others' lives at all; everyone is disposable.

  • He's carefree, often humming or dancing while committing war crimes.
  • He's somewhat yandere, inserting his mind into Amun's body because he "loved" him and wanted him to be perfect.
  • He's very vindictive, and tends to retaliate with ten times the force. You called his invention dumb? You return to find your partner murdered by that very machine.
  • He has a childish love of the concept of "evil," finding odd pride in being such a thing. He thinks it's cool.
    • He was introduced to the "gay supervillain" trope as a kid, and instead of finding it offensive, he adored it, and hoped to one day become a gay supervillain himself. While he'd have always wanted to be evil, perhaps if it weren't for those tropes, he'd be less openly prideful of it.

Trivia

  • He started out as an AU Zane, but he's much more psychopathic, campy, cheerful, extroverted, and is proudly and openly gay. Really, he's quite different; their main similarities are just being awkward, evil science-based gingers.
  • In later life, he body-hops into Amun Phact, taking control over him nigh-completely. Overall, he keeps the same personality, outside of being a lot more laid back, now that he doesn't have to rely on inventions to be strong.
    • He also feels he has less to prove/less competition, because after the hop, he had to flee his crew, starting a new life with no "rivals" or "enemies" to speak of—at least initially.
  • Name Origin:
    • Deimos: Moon Satellite of Mars.
    • Aldebaren: Star in Taurus.

Philosophy

The difference between "good" and "evil" is that one is for weaklings who require cooperation to survive, and the other is for those strong enough to do what they really want.

"Goodness" is for the Weak

Deimos thinks being "good" is illogical, and the only reason that anyone is "good" is because they're too weak to survive without the help from others. The weak can become strong only through mutual cooperation, whereas the strong have the luxury of being able to do what they please. Therefore, he will be "evil," and do what he wants, because he's stronger than anyone else (by means of technology, and later, piloting Amun).

Really, his philosophy is just a "morality" based Survival of the Fittest. I think some other philosopher went into collectivism and all that jazz, but I can't remmember. Either way, he's anti-collectivism, because he's "strong."

You can be Friends one Place and Enemies another

He claims to be someone who can put aside different views in one area while interacting in another: a heated rival on the battlefield can still be a friend while attending an unrelated party. His vindictive nature means this doesn't entirely hold true, even for himself, but he tries his best to live by it, because he doesn't think just because one entirely disagrees some places that one has to always be on poor terms.

More often than not, he uses this philosophy as an excuse as to why he might still cozy up to someone who hates him, blaming them for being petty. But he also just genuinely likes interacting with people—even people he hates. He finds it silly that merely disagreeing on everything under the sun means people are suddenly exempt from interacting.

He'd definitely be super against "block culture" on the internet, and would use countless alts to continue communicating, blatantly informing them that it's him again, every time.

Hobbies

Dancing/Singing

He likes Disco, especially, and can often be seen singing and dancing during daily life.

Stalking Co-Workers/Competitors

He likes knowing the people he works with, mostly so he won't ever be blindsided by them. He sometimes scares people with the knowledge he has on them. Perhaps he isn't as confident that he can't be killed as he lets on, which is why he makes sure to keep tabs on people, but if this is the case, even he isn't aware of this; he refuses to believe he isn't entirely confident in his continued survival, through sheer excellence.

Bombing Things

He's heartless and sadistic. Life and death is a game to him, and destroying others' lives is "fun." That said, he doesn't have any particular interest in watching people's suffering, unless it's for research purposes, thus his preference for bombing, which is simple and effective—plus, he likes how the explosions look.

Trying New Things

He has a curious mind and likes adding a little excitement to his life, which means trying all sorts of new hobbies. He'll often be pretty gung-ho about a hobby, making it his entire personality, but only for a few days or a week. Then he gets bored of it and drops it completely, but might still passionately bring it up if it happens to come up in conversation, for another moment.

Chatting with People

He's an utterly terrible scumbag, but aside from an ego and some rude remarks, he's pretty amicable when it comes to conversations, with a smile and a lighthearted tone. He loves talking to people, and tends to be the one to strike up conversations, often even with people he hates. He just likes to talk. A lot. Especially if it's about himself. Most people find him annoying, but will put up with him, because it's best not to get on his bad side.

History

Main Canon (Space/Amun)

I don't know about his childhood, but by his mid-teens, he joined a large spaceship crew—basically an entire city in its own right. He joined it due to there being less regulations in space, similar to the oceans of Earth, where there aren't true governing bodies. The ship mainly did mercenary work, traveling the galaxy, and Deimos quite enjoyed it, both for the adventure and freedom.

He went to school on the ship, while already interning on various missions. He was a scientist, first and foremost, but tended to get his hands dirty, traveling to various planets and looking into all sorts of phenomena, both for business and pleasure. He'd also build plenty of giant machines to do various (usually destructive) tasks on these planets. One can liken his view of these planets as Africa colonization on Earth: your average heartless eccentric psychopath wanting the freedom to do immoral things in a "lesser" civilization, due to a large gap in power between his superior knowledge/technology and theirs.

He enjoyed this life, but considered this ship a stepping stone for a future where he was fully in control, not even bound by the meager laws the Coalition had.

Meeting Amun

At some point—probably within a few years—he meets Amun, another student, sent on the ship by his disappointed family, in hopes a life more on his own would "fix" him. Deimos, being his usual talkative self, is the first to strike up a conversation with him, and given Amun is too shy to ever talk to anyone else, Deimos eventually becomes his only friend. In time, Deimos learns about Amun's depression and self-esteem issues, which he ends up liking, since he can use it to his advantage, making him his guinea pig. Amun accepts, glad to be of use to someone for once. An unhealthy close bond forms between the two, and they end up falling in love for each other, both for bad reasons: Amun is too awestruck by Deimos' "kindness" (the fact that he's always talking to him) and too depressed to realize he's just a tool, while Deimos loves Amum as a project, not a person. In fact, Deimos finds Amun's personality his only flaw, and isn't shy about telling him such. Amun agrees.

With Amun as the perfect willing test subject, Deimos dedicates a lot of time to "improving" him, enhancing his body with wings and enhanced muscle growth, turning him into the supersoldier he is today. He's confident that with Amun's body and his mind, almost nothing could stop them.

He didn't plan on running from the Coalition yet—wanting more knowledge and power before making the leap—but when a conflict arises with another planet, he is confident enough to offer a plan of breaking into the planet's moon, taking control of the god that resided there, and destroying the planet with the moon. Others on the ship found his plan too risky, but he decides to go ahead with the plan anyway, wanting to prove himself capable.

Him and Amun succeed, but with an entire planet destroyed by their hands, the whole solar system is suddenly their enemy, and the Coalition will do nothing to defend them, as they were against their plan from the start. Thus, Amun and Deimos are forced to flee and go into hiding, Deimos' plans of true freedom starting earlier than he had hoped.

Becoming Amun

Regrettably, the two slow each other down in various ways: Deimos is a liability thanks to his limited supplies to create new tech to defend himself, and Amun still has his depression and aversion to violence getting in the way of making sure they eliminate everyone who's a threat. As such, Deimos decides to do something he had thought would be useful for a while now: he returns to their old ship (sneaking in) and inserts his own mind and soul into Amun's, becoming one with him. Combined, they are the perfect being, according to him: the sheer power of his ultimate creation, while having the greatest mind to ever live: himself~.

"They" fly off again, and start a new life far from the many governments after their heads.

From here, Deimos doesn't quite consider himself Amun, but he never outwardly states Amun and his "condition" to others, so most consider Amun is just Amun, finding his occasional referencing of himself in the third person just an odd quirk. With no true "enemies" made yet with this new population, he's a lot friendlier, and spends his time exploring various planets, doing whatever he wants. Often he'll even find himself helping people, because he enjoys using his new body's abilities to their full extent. Most consider him a pretty nice guy, outside of the fact that he won't hesitate to kill you if someone gives him a sweet enough offer.

Outside of that, for the time being, he's a lot more neutral-to-benevolent, Deimos no longer having a crew to fall back on to be the truly malevolent man he'd like to be. He also just wants a break from all the running away, and enjoys the simpler life. But in time, he'll surely be back to his "evil supervillain" dreams, once he finds a new entity he can utilize as another stepping stone in his quest for ultimate control and freedom.

Amun Phact

Deimos

Deimos obsessed over Amun, not as a person, but as a beloved project. After the enhancements, he considered Amun the perfect physical specimen, but was constantly disappointed with Amun's flawed, depressed personality. It ruined him, and had to be removed. Perfectly pleased with his own mind and personality, the insane scientist decided that Amun would be perfect if he were in control of him, thus he body hopped into Amun, becoming his own favorite project. He very much loves "Amun," aka himself.

Feelings

Amun

Present-day Amun is Deimos in his skin. The "real" Amun didn't like Deimos' flippancy towards others' suffering, but tended to write off his qualms as being "stupid," because Deimos was so much smarter than him, thus surely must be right to discard "lesser" people for the sake of himself. Amun trusted and cared for Deimos far too much, leading to his fate.

Sapphire Spica

3/31/26: Now that I've fleshed Deimos out more and made him nuke-happy and someone who'll try to be on friendly terms with enemies, I like the idea of him relating to "September's" normal backstory of her city being blown up. Perhaps Sapphire has a similar backstory, and Deimos is responsible. She joins the same crew as him, because she no longer has a home, and he tells her about how he was the one who destroyed it, but she's smart, so they should still be friends. She hates him, but does begrudgingly work together with him, because he's correct they make a decent team and they currently have the same goals, working for the same ship. But she knows Deimos is on the lookout for betraying the ship once he finds a better offer, so she's keeping a close eye on him—and Amun, given he seems to be Deimos' little pet.

Deimos

Deimos looks up to Sapphire, fully admitting she's the more competent of the two of them. That said, he's competitive just like her, and hopes for the chance to one day best her. If backstabbing her gives him more knowledge or power, he'd do it in a heartbeat, and he knows the feeling is mutual.

Feelings
Feelings

Sapphire

Sapphire finds Deimos a "friend" only because they share similar values, which is rare to come by. She's annoyed by his smarminess, and finds his obsessive insanity clouds his better judgement. She doesn't trust him, but she'll gladly work with him, to achieve her own goals.

Images

Rey Acrux

Deimos

Deimos despises Rey, who is a constant thorn in his side. Their obsessive personalities clash, but due to his smarts and less hot-headed personality, he wins out in the end, Amun trusting him more.

Feelings
Feelings

Rey

Rey is paranoid in general, but happens to be right about Deimos being a threat. She can't stand him and wishes the worst on him. They bicker constantly when they happen to be in the same room.

Images

Deneb Algedi

Deimos

To Deimos, Deneb is nothing but a threat, and unlike Rey, a genuine one. Deneb was capable of truly wresting some control of Amun away from Deimos. Lawful enough to not flat out murder, Deimos studied Deneb for years, waiting for an excuse to off him "legally." He got his chance when he finds Deneb helping an enemy child in a war-torn area and shoots her on sight, keeping it a secret from Amun, instead "comforting" him by telling him Deneb died because she messed up: she was flawed. But they don't have to be flawed like Deneb. They can be perfect.

Feelings
Feelings

Deneb

Deneb knows Deimos is a bad influence on Amun, but also knows heated confrontations like the ones Rey has aren't going to fix anything. She instead tries to steer Amun away in more subtle ways, or when Deimos isn't around. She knew Deimos was capable of terrible things, but she didn't expect him to go as far as killing her when he had the chance.
